VSO Nepal is busily preparing for its big 50th anniversary taking place next year. The team is organising an exciting range of events and projects to celebrate and raise awareness about VSO's life-changing work in the country.
The various projects that are underway to mark the 50th anniversary celebrations include:
an anniversary book compiling VSO Nepal's history and its volunteers' inspirational stories and photos
a book launch and cultural celebration bringing together VSO partners and supporters
a half-an-hour documentary about VSO Nepal
a range of treks giving participants the opportunity to discover Nepal and the work of VSO volunteers.
Over the last half-a-decade VSO has placed more than 800 volunteers in Nepal from its recruitment bases in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Kenya, India, Indonesia, China, Sri Lanka, Canada and the Philippines. These volunteers have worked in the areas of health, education, HIV and AIDS, participation and governance and secure livelihoods. They've worked with the Nepali Government and in local NGOs in technical areas such as agriculture, forestry, business enterprise, organisational development, fundraising, advocacy to build the capacities of local individuals and communities.
