When UK tax payers Gift Aid their contribution, the tax man will give us 25p for every £1 given, at no cost to the person donating or raising money! This additional income makes a BIG difference to the work that we do.
All we ask is that all UK tax-paying donors tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form or JustGiving page and include their full name and home address, including postcode. We can’t claim anything unless they do.
Lots of companies operate Matched Giving schemes that can double the amount of money you raise pound for pound. Find out if your employer operates a scheme such as this and if they will match what you raise. Your HR or Marketing Department is a good place to start.
One of the easiest, safest and most reliable ways to collect money from your donors is to set up an online fundraising page via JustGiving. People with a JustGiving page raise on average £300 more than those that don’t.
You won’t have to chase people for pledged money and people tend to give more when they donate online. Ensure that your first donation is a high one as this will encourage people to follow with similar amounts. Further tips and advice on setting up a JustGiving page can be found here.
JustGiving offer a service that allows supporters to donate via text message. When someone wants to make you a donation, they send a text that includes a code already set up by yourself and the amount they want to donate to 70070.
This is really useful when holding a fundraising event at work or out-and-about. People might not have money in their wallets, but everyone has a phone on them!
