How to remember VSO in your Will

Find out how you can remember VSO in your Will, so that your gift can one day transform lives across the world.

How to remember VSO in your Will

Any gift to VSO will make a difference to the lives of poor communities across the world.

There are two main ways to leave a gift in your Will to VSO:

The first is by leaving a residuary legacy. This is a share or percentage of the residue of your estate after all other gifts to friends and family have been made. This means your gift will keep in line with inflation, so it has the value you originally intended for the gift to have.

If you would like to leave this type of gift to VSO, we suggest the following wording:

I give [enter percentage] percent of my residuary estate to VSO, 100 London Road, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, KT2 6QJ UK (registered Charity No 313757) to be used by VSO for its general purposes, and I direct that the receipt of the Hon Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge of the said legacy

The second way to remember VSO in your Will is by leaving a pecuniary legacy, or cash sum. We suggest the following wording:

I give [amount] to VSO, 100 London Road, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, KT2 6QJ UK (registered Charity No 313757) to be used by VSO for its general purposes, and I direct that the receipt of the Hon Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge of the said legacy

If you choose to leave a legacy in your Will to VSO and help us build a fairer world, we recommend using a solicitor to make or amend your Will. A solicitor can ensure that your Will is legally valid and that your wishes will be carried out. We’ve also put together some frequently asked questions and answers which you might find useful.

If you have already included a gift to VSO in your Will or are planning to do so, we would like to give you our heartfelt thanks – this really is a wonderful gift to communities across the world.

We would love if you would let us know so we can thank you and keep you updated on our future work – please let us know here.

If you have or are considering remembering VSO in your Will, you will expect us to make the best use of your gift to fight poverty. This is why we make the following promise to you.
